Hello,
in the preferences in my account there is a parameter "Write to disk at most every" which I interpret such as that any disk activity of Boinc and the application is at least that amount of seconds apart.

Unfortunately it is not working because E@H in the Windows version is writing every few seconds into a file "stderr.txt". (Looking into the file it seems to me my Computer needs to prove to me that it can count from 1 upwards, :-))

My guess is that the application is honoring the parameter but some debugging output is not.

Is there any other method of stopping this kind of output or at least restrict it to the same timing parameter?

Thanks.

Disk Activity

Not that I knew of... probably to give the developers a chance to find out what has gone wrong in case of an error or crash.

Yup, this cannot be disabled. The client will write to this file about once per second to once every 5 seconds, depending on the speed of your PC. It will also generate a checkpoint to save it's internal state every minute or so (depending on the "Write to disk at most every xx seconds" setting), so it won't let spin down the disk anyway, I guess. Writing a few bytes every second is nothing to worry about, I guess, harddisks are made for much tougher loads.
