However, I would suggest to halt distribution of those monsters until the cross-platform-validation problem has been solved, for obvious reasons. A failed 630 credits WU can really bring up people against the project.

Judging by the estimated run times, my P4 Northwood 475717 has got two of them - over three days @ 2.0 GHz.
Nobody's reported a full run yet, but my first should be back about 2am tomorrow morning. The second will follow in - well, about 3 days (plus a bit of time off for SETI).

My brave old PII Deschutes, running Linux, has recently completed a 424 credits WU, validated against a Windows CPU. I would not mind receiving a monster WU to see if it can crunch it within its deadline, but I am only receiving short SETI WUs. My shares are Einstein 300, SETI and QMC 100.

Well, looking at the graph Bernd posted and your runtime for the 496.1 MHz result it just finished, I'm estimating it should run the max template frequency shown (550 Mhz) in under 950 Ksecs. Well within the deadline period.
Given you have the RS biased towards EAH, I figure you have a better than even money chance of finding out for sure. ;-)

I just received one of those monster WUs, pretty lengthy albeit not as bad as ClimatePrediction. It appears they are coming in different shapes and sizes.

I was interested to follow the progress of your 2.0 GHz Northwood. I pick up older machines at used computer auctions. One of my latest acquisitions (cost me $20) was a Celeron 1.1 GHz with 256MB RAM and a 20GB HDD. How do you reckon it should go compared to yours? :).
Well as luck would have it, it was assigned a "monster" data file as well, slightly higher frequency at 539.25 compared to your 535.25 Hz. Like yours, mine has now finished and is waiting for a slower quorum partner. You might be interested in the performance comparison. My machine is overclocked a little at 1.32 GHz. Your machine took 267,576 seconds for 637.71 credits whilst my machine took 273,708 seconds for 647.27 credits. Both machines returned over 8.5 credits/hr.
Just goes to show how good Tualatin Celerons are at number crunching (if nothing else) :).

That may be so :). But seeing as how Intel were doing their best to convince people of how great the P4 architecture was - particularly after the Williamette was improved and supplanted by the Northwood - and how we needed to upgrade from the old and tired PIII to the new lightning fast super MHz charged P4's and how the Celeron really was a dog, etc, it always gives me great pleasure to demonstrate how good the Tualatin Celerons were at the time. :).
