If you are running the GUI client you probably will definately get errors. I am not sure if wine can do alot of the opengl stuff yet, so that might be the source of some of your errors.
such things just should not be writ so please destroy this if you wish to live 'tis better in ignorance to dwell than to go screaming into the abyss worse than hell
Just as an update, I have converted several of my computers from the linux native binary method, to the windows with wine binary method, so far I have seen roughly a 80% to 200% increase in performance. So far all returned results have that are not pending anymore have received credit. IE: no zero credit results yet. So that is good.
I am going to give it a week, and give a full detailed report.

Most likely it's a difference in the compilers used to build the app.

It is really impossible to say without seeing how the Einstein people compile it. More than likely things just aren't being optimized as they are in windows.

> Did anybody tried to run boinc under wine without X11 environment?
I am not sure if it is possible. I think there is a way to force wine into console mode but I have not done it. For my headless servers, I just installed tightvnc, and used that that as my X11 environment. It should also be possible to just forward X11 through ssh.

I have not tried 4.25 yet, I will probably stick with 4.19 as long as possible. Once I have a good setup, I generally stick with it as long as possible, hopefully einstein(Bruce) won't require anything greater than 4.19 anytime soon.

I went back and tried running E@H with wine under FC2 again. I still get the fix-me message but I minimized the terminal and let it run. I has completed 3 result so far.
result 1 was 22500 seconds but elapsed time was 13 hours
result 2 was 22700 seconds but elapsed time dropped to 7 hours 8 min
result 3 was 22700 seconds and elapsed time was 7 hours 0 min
The native Linux client would take over 10 hours on this Barton XP2500 @2074 MHZ

Have you tried running the new windows version 4.25 under wine yet?
I tried installing it on a new linux computer tonight for the first time, but the installation failed.
I then copied version 4.19 from an older computer, & that installed & ran on the new computer OK as it had before.
I don't actually know what I'm doing, of course, but that has not prevented me from installing v.4.19 several times.
It would be unfortunate if E@H is moving to a new win version that will not run on wine.
