OK, I know its not really going to be used that often by too many people but it would be a nice extra to be able to manually configure the BOINC client to your particular preferences.

In these instances the client should ignore any prefences set on the various projects web sites and just stick to whatever the user configured locally on the client.

Advantages? preferences could be applied immediatley without having to update the project.
A particular host could be configured a non standard way without using up one of the 3 available configuration 'slots' in general preferences. This may be valuable to people who run lots of hosts over multiple projects.

Paul.

I'm with you Paul. I would like to run Einstein/BOINC on multiple computers, but have each one set up differently.

I would also like to be able

I would also like to be able to set preferences on a local computer and have them propagate to other computers.

There is a workaround for global preferences. Exit the client, edit the global_prefs.xml file, restart the client. If you do not change the timestamp these settings will only apply to that computer and will stay until the settings are changed at a website. If you increase the timestamp the changes will propagate out to all projects and computers.

The account specific preferences however are always downloaded from the server in a RPC, so any changes made will go away the next time you connect to the project.
