Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to change which work unit is running? I'm running both Seti and Einstein, and looking at the Report Deadline I'm concerned that some of the work units may not finish on time.
Thanks!

Not with BOINC CC 4.19
You can pause work units in the test versions of BOINC CC4.2x
The problem for you now is, Seti is down so you can't even change the amount of resources it can use. Else you could've put it to zero percent.

But you can set the amount on Einstein to 10,000, helps as well ;)
BTW:
A good manual for Boinc is Paul D. Bucks BOINC Powered Projects Documentation and his FAQ therein.

Presumably you are worried about EAH work. Go to your account and edit your EAH preferences to give EAH the maximum use of your computer (until the crisis is over) ie set the share to a very large number. Then go to general preferences and lower your connect to network time so that you don't store up too much work which might expire in the future. Check the progress of your soon to expire work and as soon as it completed go to the projects tab in Boinc GUI and right click on EAH and select update. This will register your claim for credit at the earliest possible opportunity.
As a matter of interest, how many "In Progress" EAH results do you currently have in total?
Cheers,
Gary.

Thanks all for the quick response - I've reset my preferences to give EAH the max usage for now.
Here's what I have currently in progress:
1 - 95% complete - due 2/26
2 - 0% complete - due 3/1
2 - 0% complete - due 3/3
9 - 0% complete - due 3/5 - 3/8
I've also reset general preferences to connect every 2 days rather than 5.

5 is realy much, especially for Einstein.
If you run 4.19, it will not calculate your Seti efforts properly, so you get something about 8-10 days worth of crunching.

My computer concluded work on

My computer concluded work on a project and the "Work" tab indicates it is ready to report. Last night it indicated an upload of the results was complete, but this morning there is no such indication. I've received no acknowledgement, either. Is there a problem? I'm concerned that I may not have the settings correct.
Thanks!

Check the transfer tab, and make sure that the file went up. Then go to the Projects tab, right click on the project in question, and then click update.
FYI - Seti is still down - so updating won't work there.

No, there is no problem. Uploading of results and the claiming of credit for a result are two separate steps. In step 1, a server has received your result. This occurs immediately when the work is finished. Depending on your setting for "Connect to network" interval your client may not talk to a scheduling server until some considerable time later. To save server load the scheduling server receives your claim for credit at the same time as it services your request for extra work, or so it seems. So if you have set your "connect" time to several days in order to have a lot of work on hand, it may be some time before you need more work and therefore get to claim credit for the completed results. You run the risk of losing those results if your machine were to be down for a few days and the expiry date was therefore exceeded.
One workaround for this is to do as Carla suggests with the update option. This will force an immediate claim for the credit and you could do this after every result finished. A better long term solution is to use a more realistic connect to network setting in your general preferences. Personally I would recommend 0.5 days which would give you quite regular contact with the scheduling server. The added benefit would be to keep your cache smaller and fresher with much less risk of expired work. It is very much a personal preference though depending on how you view the risk of extended server outages.
One final point. If you make a big change like say from 5 days to 1 day, please be aware that as your cache runs down you will be contacting the scheduling server more regularly (1 day) but you will not be requesting new work and so your completed results will not be claimed. At least that was my experience. I actually lost 8 results for that very reason. You will need to do the manual update dance until your cache stabilises again.
Cheers,
Gary.

I've had a quick look at your results list and whilst you have a couple of results that have expired already, you have a good chance of credit on both of those if you can sneak in your result before the freshly sent out units get completed. Your machine looks like it would be capable of at least 3 results per day if you could leave it running 24/7. You would get out of trouble if you could do that for a couple of days until the cache runs down. Hope it works out for you.
Cheers,
Gary.
