Wont update preferences

Hello,
I don't know what your prob is precise, so i answer one possibility with a link to a thread where it's described.

Next one:
Set your General Preferences in the item 'Do work while computer is in use?' to yes.

Next one (in case this doesn't work):
Go to the Boinc-GUI and set the first menu to 'run always'. (should be so, if former 'next one' was proper set, but I will never bet on it ;)

A good manual for Boinc is Paul D. Bucks BOINC Powered Projects Documentation and his FAQ therein.
