Oups link to wrong page :( and the result is gone now.

There was 3 validated results and 1 waiting for validation and 1 under work.

Your link was ok, I've seen these 5 results yetserday. Don't know what happened, maybe a db-messup.

The validated results have been purged from the DB as usual, there's one awaiting validation and one in progress.

Everything looks perfectly normal to me.

So what's the problem?

I just have not seen 5 results that all validated on the same Wu before.

OK, I'm now assuming you dug deeper into one of the results for that particular computer you linked to and when you looked at the full quorum for that particular WU, you found 5 completed results that had all been given credit? Is this what you are referring to when you mention the 5 results above?

Here is one of probably a couple of ways it would be possible for that to happen. Imagine the initial 2 results both exceed the deadline and 2 new ones (#3 and #4) are issued. Assume #3 got issued immediately but there was a gap of a few days before #4 got sent out. Assume #3 also exceeded the deadline so that #5 was triggered. At that stage there would be two results still running (#4 & #5) with the first three still missing in action.

At this point imagine #1 & #2 both got returned but they didn't agree closely enough (old validator). Then #3 got returned and because the new validator was running all three were suddenly found to be good. #4 & #5 then both get returned before their particular deadlines so they will be given credit as well.

Although very improbable, it is possible for something like this to cause a quorum to contain 5 valid results. I haven't seen one but I have seen a quorum of 4 valid results.

Cheers,
Gary.

I think by now I know what

I think by now I know what happened. At least I mixed up host- and result-page, so I thought it was all about a WU sent out to five different hosts when I followed that link. :-(
Somehow this was logical, because there was nothing else wrong on that page.
Maybe I should upgrade to brain 1.01. ;-)

Michael

OK, now I understand the confusion :). I must say it's very easy to look at a list of all different results for one computer and think you are looking at a quorum of results for the one work unit. This is particularly so for slow hosts that only have 3 or 4 results showing. I've often been guilty of looking at such a list and asking myself, "Why did that extra result get sent out when the first two both validated?" :). The penny usually drops when I try to click on computer IDs and notice that they are work unit IDs instead.

Cheers,
Gary.
