If I have 10 projects running and one does not have work, does that adversly affect the other 9 in any way ?

How many weeks of no work before you shut down a project on your list ?

curious,

10 projects question

BOINC should be able to ignore the project without work until some is available then it will give that project more crunching time to even out the resource shares.

Ok, maybe my questions are too vague. Here is an excerpt from my BOINC manager messages tab. My question is: Is RALPH@home letting other projects crunch while it is waiting for new work to show up ?

Thank you Anders n. (^:

Now is there any way of knowing which project BOINC is working on between the hours of 9:49:37 PM and 9:53:43 PM ? It doesn't say in the messages tab.

Basically, BOINC client has two jobs to do:

  • * to keep processor(s) busy all the time
    * to connect project server(s) to fetch work and return results

These two tasks are almost independant of each other. Well, obviously CPU can't be kept busy if none of projects can deliver any work.

In your particular case, task from Leiden Classical was started at 7:29:07 PM and has been running at least until 9:59:07 PM when a task from Spinhenge@home was resumed (as in: had been worked on before, but didn't finish in its time, so had to be resumed). It's not clear from the log excerpt you posted wether the Leiden Classical task was suspended at that moment or not ...
Meanwhile, BOINC was trying to get more work from ralph@home. Most probably there was no work available for any of participants of this project. This, however, does not mean that your CPU was idle.
