      In your case it would seem that BOINC can't create that shared memory for one or more of your CPUs. Probably because the memory it is trying to map is already in use by something else. If it happens again, try to exit BOINC and restart it. If it still happens, restart your Mac.

          Restarting will probably be only a temporary solution for a multiple-CPU system running several projects. Apparently Apple configures all systems’ shared memory the same, regardless of the amount of RAM installed or how many CPUs they have, and this turns out to be inadequate for BOINC in such cases, as each active task needs a block of shared memory where the apps keep data that needs to be available to the client.

          A long-term solution is outlined in an article on the Pirates@home site called Configuring Shared Memory on Mac OS X. My dual-core G5 got a rash of the above errors last fall, shortly after attaching to its fifth project IIRC, but since I applied the ‘patch’ the problem hasn’t recurred—and the system has only been rebooted perhaps half a dozen times over that entire interval.
