Kinda makes the Windows Accesibility Options somewhat more relevant, eh?
nope, ive tryd to use them in the past but they tend to mess things up. im actually running in 1024x768 "true color" on a 15 inch monitor. this ofcourse means im sitting about 3 inch's from the screen at any givin time. keyboard right under it. i frankly look like a chip munk sitting here lol.
as to the shape of the cornia, they actually took a "scan" of it once as i was curious about contacts, i dont have a clue what the name of the machine is, lookd at some pritty bright circles. any who, in my case the shape is that of a "foot ball" (american version)
i tryd some free text to speach software but found it lacking. so i make do with what i can do with out "assistance". the only time i may need to depend on assitive access is if i ever get an lcd, ive had minimal experiance with them. TV's for example, i cant see projections at all, just see a light "Bar" in the middle, plasma's are dim as all get out, lcd's tend to be too darn bright, tho i think that may be how the stores have them set up.
mom has the same problem i have, tho her vision used to be 20/200 till she went in to have some cataracts removed, the eye doc didnt tell her he was going to be putting in an interoculare lense, it destroyd her near vision wich we depend on, and now shes got the same acuaty i have 20/400. its made things very very dificult for her. she used to read books all the time, she cant do that anymore, even with a 10x magnifier, wich is the strongest we can afford.
welp, im gonna get back to cleaning the dust i cant see lol.
seeing without seeing is something the blind learn to do, and seeing beyond vision can be a gift.

Partly my fault, it was a sort of semi-hijack, unacceptable behaviour for a mod eh? :-)
Well ( if you're cashed up! ) some of the newer big flat screen high definition TV's have a good old 15-pin RBG port at the back - ideal for a cable from your computers video card. You won't get any more pixels, but they will be physically bigger and you can sit back a bit to gain the same angular width at your eyeball. I saw one just yesterday at a mate's place - about a metre wide by 3/4 metre tall - awesome, but expensive.
Yep, a stretched sphere. A family member of mine has a 'conical' cornea - and so has hard contact lenses, laser surgery or graft options I think.
Alas, no-one will be specifically catering to you there.
Drats!
Chuckle! I've got teenage offspring with apparently excellent vision who are somewhat apparently blind to any messes... sigh ... you know it does help to turn the dishawasher on, after it's loaded, and assuming the washing powder has been put in too ? .... :-)
Cheers, Mike.

ah, i am the dishwasher :) scarey tholt isnt it?
ive tholt about saven up for a projector, BUT after pricing the bulbs and doing the math as to there MTBF i scratchd that idea.
as to the tv's. ive been lookin at them in stores since the fcc is "suposadly" forcing the switch from analog to hdtv, tho that was supposed to happen in 2008 but now it seems they changed it to 2009. right now ive an issue with the tv downstairs, it seems its over scanning... what i mean is there are 2mm lines at the top with a 2mm gap between them for about 4 inches err, 101mm's they become rather prominant if the "credits" are scrolling upward, once they get past the top edge they appear to come back down on those lines. ive been reading up on how to do repairs myself, however, considering the "flyback" think ill just take it to a shop. bet it would be cheaper to just get a new tv tho. we shal see :)

I've done a bit of research

I've done a bit of research and found this which invokes the Windows screen magnifier but prevents jumbling of the desktop too..
It's free, and it yields a magnified section at the top of the screen which enhances the mouse/caret area.
Cheers, Mike.
