....I think if we all spied on each other, the world would be a safer place....
Hmm, having "enjoyed" that sort of thing on visits to family in Eastern Europe during the 70's and 80's I would beg to differ - most strongly!

As JDBurch quite correctly pointed out, the potential for abuse still exists. I was thinking along the lines of an extension of the 'system of checks and balances' that seem to work towards curbing that corrupting intoxication of absolute power. I suppose that the answer requires integrity of the society as a prerequisite, in which case the cameras aren't necessary in the first place, but would sure be nice for posterity... Thanks for sharing your insight & experience, Pete :)

Was taking a quick look for a song to post in the Song Link thread, and ran across this: Peter Gabriel on human rights and citizen journalism (it's ~15 minutes), makes a good point about impact of pictures vs. stories and allegations...

Interesting video, It also made the point that governments of the world begin by offering us (the people) protection in exchange for power. The power we give the government corrupt it, and then it uses that power to abuse those who speak out against the corruption. (it is the nature of the Bureaucratic beast)
