hi all,

I have been noticing more completed wu's sitting on my computer in a "ready to report" state. (One machine had like 10 completed wu's just sitting there "ready to report"!)

Is there something I need to do so that these completed wu's go home... "That's your home, you want to go home don't you?!?" -Gary Gilmore

It is probably because you

It is probably because you are doing more smaller units than larger ones. It is perfectly OK to leave these as they will update themselves later. Hitting update just causes more database hits than is needed. Reporting one result or twenty results is not much difference in how much database time is used. The database is the same one that we all put our messages in, etc. So less updating means quicker access for everyone.

There is no need to micromanage the software. It does what it needs to do when it needs to do it, and works best if left to do it's own things.

I have been hitting 'update'

I have been hitting 'update' but b/c of Pooh Bear's post I won't... John Lennon said it best: "Let it be,... or else you'll overflow the server MORON!"

...hippies. :/

:)

thx Pooh!

Actually Rom pointed it out

Message 58285 in response to message 58284

Actually Rom pointed it out quite clear yesterday that manual updates are considered to be harmful:
BOINC Client: The evils of 'Returning Results Immediately'

I'd leave it up to BOINC when to submit results 'cause they'll be reported in bulk, resulting into a lower database-load.

Cheers, Alex.

millions in that sort of thing for the last few years, and it is time it
should be stopped."
