My guess is you would leave

My guess is you would leave your machine on anyway. And CPU time? c'mon, man. I personally, am just satisfied knowing I am helping someone with something that they wouldn't be able to do on their own.

I share Magnus Back's view. I

I share Magnus Back's view. I dont like the thought that i am wasting CPU time that could be spend doing another project. I will wait intil i have done 10 WU's. if nothing then then i will do somthing worth while and come back to the problem if its ever fixed.

My original question was to

My original question was to see if I had been a trailblazer and just sit tight.
Thank you for Bruce for responding to it - some credits were added to my account. :)

Anyway, I do believe that people need to see a little bit of info coming back from time to time.

Just to make sure people know they are doing something. Not just leaving ones computers on and letting a program run.

I started my first WU Feb

I started my first WU Feb 21.
Over the course of several days and several completed WU,s I finaly had a validated result.
It was my understanding that once this happened that I would see a fairly steady return.
This has not been the case. Over the past couple of days, I have not seen my validated WU's increase past 5.
The work my system has done thus far.
validated:5
completed:22
in progress:2
There are also a couple of "ghost?" entries on the results page.

I suppose my question would be "Is what I'm seeing concidered a normal deviation ?"
I would assume that the whole system would be geared more toward verifying existing results as opposed to completing evermore unvalidated WU's?
At least on first glance that would appear to be the most scientific approach.

More curious than anything else.

Looks perfectly normal to me. Congratulations on having a sensible cache size and the ability to finish your work in a very timely fashion. If you "drill down" through all your "pendings" you will see the evidence of what is holding up the validation. In most cases it is simply that the third completed result from one of your co-crunchers is slow in arriving. There is simply nothing the project can do about this. However, the good news is that most of the few I examined in depth look like they will complete RSN. You will then get a flood of credit.

It's exactly like a Bank with an extremely long cheque clearance period. The money's in the Bank. It's yours. You wiil eventually get access to it :). Just be patient a little longer!!

Another poster in this thread wanted to see more feedback to know that their contribution was being appreciated and acknowledged. If you browse these message boards for a while you will see the most approachable and open set of admins who are constantly responding and giving feedback in a most commendable manner. I for one totally appreciate this. The community as a whole here is marvellous.

Cheers,
Gary.

Mike, your machine is doing a nice job of crunching away! It normally takes around ten days to two weeks before your WU are finished by two others, and you get credit. So just be patient: I predict that in the next week you'll start getting a very steady stream of credits.

(FWIW, see the front page FAQ on this subject as well.)

Cheers,
Bruce

PS: I see that you've got close to a thousand credits already ... so as you can see it does work as advertised (at least most of the time, for most people!).
