I'm suddenly getting loads of Client Errors, where before I never got any.

From credits of as much as 7000+, and it's dropping fast.

I can't even get Einstein@Home to work on Vista anymore.

I remember w/the project Climate Prediction, where people were having their credits either lost, or being given to someone else. Needless to say, I dumped them. It wasn't worth wasting my computer time on that project anymore.

Now it appears that Einstein@Home is having it's own problems. Is it time to dump it? There's many other projects that I can donate my computer time to.

Look all I want is something that works, that's all. I don't want to find out that I'm wasting my computer time, as well as electricity.

Yeah it looks like you are pretty much just having this problem getting the client error on your Dual processor machine starting on July 2nd.

I have only checked a few so far but see you were not the only one having the problem with those same work units and it didn't seem to be because of the OS since others were not running Vista when it happened.

Ok I just found one of yours that another person got the client error on and they are running XP Pro sp2 but they also were running a dual processor machine but it was with a pentium and yours with the AMD.

I am going to look at more of them now.

(I see another one of yours that another person got the client error while running Win2000 sp4 with a dual processor)

It looks like a problem by starting the Einstein app. All your results exited with "Couldn't start or resume: -108".

Could you please try to reset the project on your vista system.

When you installed Vista did

When you installed Vista did you re-install BOINC to new 'program files' location. If you still use the 'old program files' location it is in an archieved folder and Vista will make the files read only.

I've totally removed and reloaded BOINC twice, together w/a disk clean, but no luck.

GoHack -Have you tried installing an older version of Boinc on this host? Perhaps a 4.xx version?

Also try attaching and running a different project to narrow the prob to Boinc or your host.

I seem to remember that getting error coded out of no where a lot of times is due to a bad memory module. Have you run a mem check?

No I haven't. I'm at work at the moment, so I'll have to do later.

Just one question: Were/are you running one of the optimized versions?

This can not generalize. The first couple of test versions did not show any difference in version number.
