I've just begun with E@H, and cannot find any minimum RAM requirements anywghere on the website. I've got plenty of disc space, but less than 400k RAM. Will I be able to complete work units?

With less than 400KB of RAM no... ;-)

That's a very early pre-XT computer, if I am not mistaken.

But with less than 400MB it should be possible. Last i checked, Einstein used about 64 to 128MB. Just make sure you set up your preferences not to leave the application in memory, especially if you run multiple projects, and you should do fine.

BOINC itself runs on computers with 16MB of memory and up.
Most projects need in the least 32MB to 64MB to run. CPDN needs at least 128 to 256MB of free RAM to run.

Thanks - I'll let it run for 2 weeks, and see if the wu gets done

You shouldn't have to wait two weeks :). You have "short" duration results which your machine should be able to do in less than 6 hours cpu time each. For you, the short units are very good so I'd try to grab as many as possible while they are on offer. In your general preferences on the website, set your "connect to network" interval (ie cache size) to something like 2.0 to 3.0 days (by default it is 0.1 days) and then "update" the project in your BOINC Manager. That should get you 10 or more of those results.

Of course, don't do this if you only intend to run your machine for an hour or two each day :). As long as your machine is available for at least 8 hours per day or more, a 2.0 to 3.0 day cache size would not be excessive.

Anyway, welcome to the project. We hope you enjoy your stay here!!

Cheers,
Gary.

Thanks ! I've updated to 2.0 day "connect to network" interval, and finished one wu so far.
