So what's the reason to not using it ?

No need to yell at me. ;-)

If the scientists at different universities say that the data comes from a source they didn't approve of, then they will not use it. There is no way to fight that.

So why not just wait it out until the new patch is approved? What is wrong with that?

I'm not yelling at you.

The point is a that both results are the same and there's no way to ignore that...

P.S. Same applies to, that Netherlands is out of the World Cup and Germany will be
"WELTMEISER !!!" Hope you get it the way it was meant to be ;)

Crunch3r, I don't really feel

Crunch3r, I don't really feel competent to argue about this scientific validity thing. The only thing separating us is that I think the project team have to be allowed to run their project their way. Being willing to help doesn't mean you or I can take charge or do our own thing.

No-one is contradicting or ignoring your facts, just saying there are other facts to take into account as well. Mushy, slippery facts about how the world and it's institutions work, rightly or wrongly.

Dead men don't get the baby washed. HTH

What I really think is funny,

What I really think is funny, is all those folks who keep saying they are only in it for the science, but suddenly their computers are 'hidden' now that Akos has asked us to stop using his apps. I guess you weren't actually in it for the science after all, huh?

Bert: I need help to paint my house

Ernie: I'll help. I've got some pink paint we can use.

Bert: I don't want a pink house! I bought some blue paint.

Ernie: But I want to paint it pink.

Bert: I don't want it pink! I want it blue. I have the paint. It's just the colour I want. Will you help me put it on?

Ernie: Sure I'll help, but I'm going to paint it pink.

Bert: Look, if you won't help me paint it blue, I don't want you to help me at all.

Ernie: Too late, Bert. You asked me to help, so I'm goint to paint your house pink, whether you like it or not!

You're wrong!
It must go this way - if you are pointing towards the "optimized-apps-thing":

Bert: I need help to paint my house

Ernie: I'll help. I've got some blue paint we can use.

Bert: Oh well I want my house painted blue but not with your paint.

Ernie: But I have the blue paint at hand!

Bert: I don't want your blue paint! I want want my blue one. I could have the paint in about two hours. It's just that paint I want. Will you help me put it on?

Ernie: Sure I'll help, but I'm going to take my paint, I have it at hand.

Bert: Look, if you won't help me paint it blue with my paint, I don't want you to help me at all.

Ernie: Isn't it a bit nitpicking don't taking the faster way to paint your house blue if the result would be the same?

Bert: No no, than i couldn't use my paint and would be snuffy and would declare your help invalid!

=============================

That is exactly the situation going on here now.
The potential floating point speed was something around 103 TFLOPS when the S5-run started - now it is 92.3 or 10% lower.
The ETA was something around 370 days - now it is 397 days, 7% longer.
Don't you think your way of managing the project is totally crap?
I have almost drawn all my clients away from the project, only running off of the cache and then this was it - seems there are some more people reacting so.

It's allways the same ... those who are in for the "science" keep debating about the "leveling playground" of credits ... demand not to use optimized apps...
etc... seen that before ... it's been allways the same... those who claim to be in for "science" are only jealous of the ones who have more machines available and can afford to add even more if they like too.

That's almost 90% true in all the cases.. That's a fact.

Simple case ... take a look at people that demand not to use optimized apps. or boinc clients...

95% of them got an RAC of less than 1K (could be easyly done by one computer)

It's only envy, frustration and rage that some can do better than them.
Nothing else 100% the facts!

You know what Crunch3r? I've always had the utmost respect for you and your optimized apps. And when you asked us to stop using yours over at SETI I complied. I know a lot of folks didn't stop using them, and I'm really sorry about that, but I did. And when Akos asked us to stop using his apps, apparently you didn't. What is that saying?
