There has already been a significant speedup of the PPC clients by Bernd (mainly due to utilisation of Altivec). And the S5 clients even incorporate new ideas which formerly only made it into S4 beta clients.
Intel-Macs are another chapter, but here you are not alone as there are probably many linux users hoping for optimizations, too.
I think PPC based Macs perform pretty decently at the moment, even in comparison to win machines with Akos clients.
For what it's worth, here's how mine are doingon Einstein, all using the standard Einstein workers:
iBook G4 1.33 GHz, 10.93 credits/hour
PowerBook G4 1.67 GHz, 14.04 credits/hour
MacBookPro core duo 2.0 GHz, 28.95 credits/hour/processor
C
OK ... I hear what you say!!!
My MBP Core duo 2.16 GHz is returning ~ 32 to 34.37 credits/hour/processor.
WHY can it not return 73.43 credits/hr/processor?
I reckon this is a fair enough question !!!
(Please understand, I am not unhappy with this return; mind you, when I look at the returns people here are getting with their PCs I am ecstatic!!!. Perhaps this is 'pay-back' time for all those years when programmes were only written to favour PCs. I LOVE it ... But I stil wanna go faster than those amateur comps whose only real role has been to be VERY good at games!!!!!
;-D
Anyone doing anything for Mac?
