It was a wise idea from Bruce to use a Quorum of 2 instead of 3.
Not all crunchers have switched to the S5 units. When they do we see another performance boost. Some computers will be excanged with faster ones (Some still use Pentiums with 400 Mhz) . My estimate is about 250 - 300 days to complete S5.
With the influx of people that join the project, and the dedicated people, it could easily be done.
People talk about S5 apps not being optimized, but they ARE, just not fully. Akos even said that the SS3 would only gain approximately 5% from the current app. I wish people would understand this.

And those included optimisations are what made it possible/feasible to pack a lot more work into each work unit. It even uses SSE instructions if your system is capable of that.

S4 had some 6+million wu. It took some 180 days to complete.
S5 has some 16+million (LOOOOONGER) wu. How on earth will it finish in just double the time WITHOUT optimized applications?
