If the link for S5T0709.dat downloads a file called S5T0709.dat but installes 07010, whare do we get the real 0709?

Ray, try to open the .dat file with the notepad... In the bottom of the file you can read something about the version of the patch. Please verify it's a 0709 patch, just to be sure...

I took mine from this topic, a lot of post ago... ;-)

Maybe someone linked a 0710 patch with a mispelled named... :-(

Getting apparently valid

Getting apparently valid results with S5T0713 (App 4.10) with excellent speed increase (cutting about 10,000 sec off large WU):

first it says E@H S5R1 4.10 0712 TEST and not 0713 and second you cant say if its valid before you get credits for it.

This is a known problem with 0713, so it could be 0713.

LiborA has established directly that 0713 does not produce identical results to the stock app, so we will see if version 4.10 (which this result is) is really subject to more lax validation when another result comes in. Alas, the computer with the other replication of this WU is not the fastest.

That must be it, I got another copy and it said 0709 when opened in notepad, old one had 07010 in notepad.
Would be good if we could get all those links out of this thread and just have one for Akos page, so everyone would get the one they wanted.
Had another started with the 07010, aborted that and started a new one with the 0709.
Will see tomarrow how this one workes out, only running 50% of the time.
Cheers
Ray

Since the WU completed normally, I used the word "apparently" since credit has not been issued. In the future, I'll refrain from using such confusing language.

I am using patch S5T0713 which the author stated the change was making it "smaller". He did not state any changes to code from 0712 indicating (to me) that they are the same. You'll have to ask him.

LOL, you should be thankful this can't really be a K6 (unless the whole thing is in a bath of LN2)! :-)

I have a K6-2/500 and it took 225 hours to do a long S5, and I don't think any straight K6 (the fastest was 300 MHz) can even make the deadline, which is why I don't run my K6/300 on EAH any more.

Alinator

PS: Hope you don't mind being teamed up with me on one of these long S5's Dr. Allen! :-)

I think I read over at SIMAP that K6s are really good for that project.
