Please advise what type of files the Einstein Apps are. They cannot be executables, since they are too small. They also do not open with zip.

They are 7-zip files. I don't know how compatible they are with other zip programs, but 7-zip is freely available here

Why use a trendy zip file system, rather than a normal zip system? Maybe just to show how clever you are (NOT)? Nevertheless, I have d/l the required file, and it is crunching much faster than the standard client.

Very fast that S5T0709. Wasn't all with that patch but still only took 32,474. Down from ~41,800 or 9hours1min as compared to 11hours30min+
From what I see, that sounds about right. My current work unit is about 1/3 done and it took a bit under 3 hours. It's on pace to finish in about 9 hours total. The earlier ones I worked on took more like 14 hours, so this is a pretty big improvement.
P.S. -- Regarding 7-zip, I *think* it has a higher compression ratio than regular zip, rar, tar, gz, or other formats, but I'm not sure. Whoever used it may have done so out of habit, not to make things harder for others. If you don't already have one, you might want to look into getting a multi-format zip program such as ZipGenius or IZArc; it can be quite handy sometimes.

7zip is IIRC about 30% better than a normal zip or rar file, and about 15% better than bzip2which was the previous compression king. .tar isn't a compression format at all, it just glues multiple files into a single uncompressed one, which is why unix archives are often .tar.gz (gzip being a single file compressed format).

OK let's not get into a sh*t storm over a minor issue. However, ZIP amd RAR are by far the accepted formats, which are free to decompress (I believe).
