@ Akosf Do you want us to

@ Akosf
Do you want us to report all units that check out ok or are you mostly just interested in when they fail?

Likely it's having problems with long file names. try patching in a dir like c:\\temp\\

@akos...

The patcher program works on my XP boxes, but on an old NT box it cannot access the file even though it is present, writeable, and not running. Below is a picture that shows directory contents, commands issued, and status of the BOINC Service.

I was able to work around this problem by unzipping the pre-patched application that Crunch3r provided.

I thing, you must stop the service "boinc.ece", befor you can patch the file.

That was the whole point of my picture... it shows the NT Services control panel, and BOINC does not show "Started" in the Status column. Therefore, it gives evidence that I had already shut it down. I overwrote the exe file with the one from Crunch3r's zip... no problem.

The long file name handling theory makes the most sense to me. Apparently the API function that the patcher calls to open the file works as expected in XP but not in NT.

In that case, you have to exit the BOINC Manager to stop BOINC from running. Open Task Manager and view the Processes list to verify that BOINC and the Einstein app are not running.

crunh3r is offering links to these. Search his posts.

@Akosf - No prob i'll have another for you in less than an hour. By the way that S5T0001 cut maybe 1-2hours of the HT times. Incredible work. Thanks again. Ill start slowly upgrading

...otherwise make sure, than the file not write protected and/or you be authorized to (over)write the file.
