Fantastic! A gain of more then 2,000 seconds/WU! I used to have 7,700-7,900 seconds/WU and this dropped to 5,500-5,700/WU with 4.67 (the recent result with 7,000 seconds were done with the CPUs set to "Minimum", the ones in the 5,000-range are done with setting to "Maximum")! All are initial, non validated so far (other results missing).

Congratulations!

You've got a Dual G5 2.7GHz....?

mine's only churning out a WU appr. every 8300 sec on the beta compared to the stock client of ~10500 sec/WU....

Elphidieus,

yes, that's a Dual 2.7 GHz machine w/ 1 GB RAM. Make sure your processor is set to "highest" in the Energy Saver preference pane and also check if you set the E@H-preferences to "keep in memory".

It is on "Highest" setting, and that's the max it can go.... Mine's only a single G5 1.9GHz w/ 1GB RAM, core-to-core, the clock frequency margin is huge, that explains the time elapsed.

RE: I put a new MacOS App

I put a new MacOS App for testing on the Beta Test Page.
The issue with the previous 4.56 Beta App on G5 (and early G4) has been resolved, i.e. this new 4.67 App should show a significant speedup over the current official App on G5, too.
Some generic improvements in the code should give another bit of speedup on all CPUs compared to the previous 4.56 Beta App; how much exactly depends on the CPU type and is left to you to find out.
Happy testing!

Hi! Bernd
I have done as instructed ... and I seem still to be running 4.39
However, 4.67 seems to be installed in /library/Application Support/BOINC/Projects /Einstein
I am still getting exactly same times ((,400) as I was getting before!
Have I put it in upside down again?
(G5 Mac Dual 2.0Gig running BOINC 5.4.9)

Well, the instructions say that new work will be assigned to the new App. If you have already got tasks that have been assigned to 4.39, they will be finished with that App. Only new work you get with a scheduler contact after installing the new App will be assigned to the new App.

I told you I am idioot!!!
Sorry ... I have another 20 or so to crunch, then!!!
My G4 ... has dropped from 16 - 17,000 CPU seconds to 6,700 CPU Seconds per WU and is working like a charm
Many thanks ...

Well, the project won't mind if you abort them, at least the ones that haven't started yet. You may want to finsh the ones already in progress, though.

That's a bit too good to be true from just the App. I see you have gotten shorter Workunits now.

9 WUs had enough results so far and all validated o.k. Appr. 30 more pending.

I've had 6 work units fail

I've had 6 work units fail validation out of 52 that have been validated using 4.67. See computer ID 476088 if you need to find WU's that didn't validate using 4.67 on a QUAD G5.

Thanks for all your hard work on the G5 improvements Bernd.
