I put a new MacOS App for testing on the Beta Test Page.

The issue with the previous 4.56 Beta App on G5 (and early G4) has been resolved, i.e. this new 4.67 App should show a significant speedup over the current official App on G5, too.

Some generic improvements in the code should give another bit of speedup on all CPUs compared to the previous 4.56 Beta App; how much exactly depends on the CPU type and is left to you to find out.

Happy testing!

MacOS PPC Beta Test App 4.67 available

Applied and renamed beta app into 4.39 while awaiting new tasks at 4.67.

Judging from the progress, I'm looking at a speedup of 22% - 25%.... will return results and awaits validation.

Well done Bernd and those who'd involved....

First WU finished and validated. Ran one-third of the WU on 4.39 and two-thirds on 4.67 masquerading as a 4.39...

You're claiming ~130 for a long unit. What's up?

That result reports you used the 4.39 client. Why masquerading? Could that be the reason?

Not sure, but it was reported 4.39 because I renamed 4.67 to the former without having to wait for the original 4.39 to finish my current WU cache.

Fantastic! A gain of more

Fantastic! A gain of more then 2,000 seconds/WU! I used to have 7,700-7,900 seconds/WU and this dropped to 5,500-5,700/WU with 4.67 (the recent result with 7,000 seconds were done with the CPUs set to "Minimum", the ones in the 5,000-range are done with setting to "Maximum")! All are initial, non validated so far (other results missing).

Congratulations!

You've got a Dual G5 2.7GHz....?

mine's only churning out a WU appr. every 8300 sec on the beta compared to the stock client of ~10500 sec/WU....

Elphidieus,

yes, that's a Dual 2.7 GHz machine w/ 1 GB RAM. Make sure your processor is set to "highest" in the Energy Saver preference pane and also check if you set the E@H-preferences to "keep in memory".
