Everybody using optimised version such as Beta versions provided by Bernd or those by Akos, please INSTALL A CALIBRATING CLIENT, TOO!

ftp://docmaboul.dyndns.org/BoincStudio.0.5.rar
The reason simply is that the already badly flawed credit system is now completely for the drain altogether. Instead of the average 45 Credits, one fifth of my credits now look like: http://einsteinathome.org/workunit/8137449
I don't want to go through my WU list and abort those units where people cheat me, because I do not want to cheat the Einstein team! Yet this is now becoming wide scale antisocial behaviour and therefore frustrating. I give those people the benefit of the doubt, that they don't know about this fact, but if you participate in this project you should play by the rules. PERIOD.
Please, Mike, consider making this one a sticky thread next to the optimisation threads.

Akos Optimizations require installing Calibrating Clients 2 !!!

Why install something which give me more credit than I've earned by my work?:)
RE: Why install something

Look like here:

Because you disadvantage others with standard applications.

You helped to betray some user who's host did a real hard job on this WU and got only 8.42 credits for 41,853.55 sec. of work.
He is using the official app and the official client.
Why should he get much less credits because of people, who use one of Akos's Alberts and an improper client?

Michael
RE: Everybody using
)
In your example the low credit awarded is NOT because of Akos' improved apps, but because the project team throws out the high and low claims and grants the middle one. UWM's approach to granting credit doesn't appear to be equitable.
That said, it is not my responsibility -- or that of any host -- to level the playing field for everyone else. I believe in keeping my system as vanilla as possible so I will use BOINC as offered by UCB. When Akos offers a science app that is 4x faster than what the project offers how can I ignore it?
The correct solution is at the roots: to get UCB and UWM to implement a proper benchmarking or flops-counting system and to grant credits in an equitable way across the board for everyone. Many people do not have the time or desire to manually install Akos apps or to manually install special clients, both of which implies upgrading them periodically.
RE: Why install something

Because of the sick credit-calculation-system.
If every workunit would have a designated precalculated credit than truly everyone would become the credits that he would have earned with his work - i.e. more units in the same time means more credit for the client.
RE: RE: Why install
)
Seti has recently brought out a new client (enhanced), which determines the credit for each WU based on the FPOPS. Using this, the credit for each WU, crunched by different hosts varies only slightly. It would seem to be quite equitable for all.

Others can also use optimized aplications (of course, non-win others not, but I have seen some Linux one with 105 credits/WU and another with 23 credit per the same type of WUthis isn't disadvantaging?). And give more credit than is relevant to work-time means devaluation of credit (from the view of other projects).
RE: Why install something

Why install an optimised application? If it's to do more science, then shouldn't you be rewarded with more credit?
I totally agree what have

I totally agree what have been said about the CC. Was skeptic at first, but have been running it for about a month now. And it does the job, so that "slower" searchers get the credit that their work deserve.

If you had a seven times faster machine, would you let credit with your arguments the same credit, as if would be seven times slower machine? (No hardware without software.)
