Ok, one of my computers is in a serious need of cleanup and reloading of the OS. Ha,ha... my youngest has been deleting and changing files at random. My question: how do I abort wu's so that they go back into the draw and not cause the other 2 crunchers to have to wait two or so weeks before they are reassigned? I dislike to give others grief on this issue. :^) I tried to find a thread concerning this issue (I know there is at least one) but alas, my patience has grown thin. :-( Thanks in advance for any info.

Reloading OS & BOINC
)
There is no need to kill the WUs. Make a Safe-Copy of the Boinc Dir with ALL SUBDIRS. Install OS, Install Boinc (to register the DLL), NO connection and Login to Server!
Copy the Safe-Copy to Your Boinc-Dir, allow overwriting. Start Boinc an repeat crunching with the Old Host-ID. No WU will be lost.
I practiced this 3 Times and it works.

Thanx for the answer Chris.

Thanx for the answer Chris. I'm sorry but I didn't put forth all of the info on this issue. I want to reformat the HD so copying into another folder on the computer is not an option. How about suspending and copying onto another networked computer (renaming it BOINC2 so it doesn't interfere with the BOINC folder on the other) and then back after the reformat and OS reinstall?

This is no problem, the place of the Backup is not relevant.
Your planning is ok.
Good Luck and Happy Crunching

Thanx once again.

Thanx once again. Unfortunately the planning was for naught. During the process of transfering programs between computers, my computer suffered a psychotic breakdown. So it's an otiose point now. I've spent the last hour and a half with it. AAAAARGH!

I don't want to make you paranoid or anything, but it knew ...... remember HAL? :0)
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

Yes, A. C. Clark was a visionary. I seriously expected the computer to make the Pac-Man fatality protest. Anyway it looks like the wu's on it before went back for reassignment so it's all good. It's crunching beautifully... well for a Celeron anyway.
