Since the time that I updated my graphics driver so that I could get accelerated video on my newly built Slackware 10.2 system, the "Show Graphics" button has failed to enable. It worked prior to installing the NVIDIA driver package, but now I get this error in my stderr:

I run Linux 2.4.31 with X11 using KDE 3.4.2. The NVIDIA driver version is 1.5.6 NVIDIA 87.56. The graphics adapter is an NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX400. It would appear that a library issue has appeared, but I'm unclear on how to go about resolving it. Advice/assistance/belittling of a Linux newbie is appreciated.

Did you try other Open GL applications?
You must run nvidia-xconfig or edit X-config file manually.

I did try glxgears, which showed a tremendous improvement in fps from the previous nonaccelerated run. I also ran nvidia-xconfig, but I think that the installation ran that the first time as well. Anyway, there was no change in the behavior of the graphics, and the button wasn't enabled. I ran dmesg and found these entries, which may or may not be helpful in any way:

Hm, this only looks like a warning to me. Why not post it on the NVIDIA Linux Forum?
Sorry, no good ideas ATM.

Thanks for your time, though. I'll try the NVIDIA forum and see what they come up with. If they have any answers, I'll post them here as well in case anyone else runs into this in the future.
One other thing I should
)
One other thing I should probably note, the GL screensavers run just fine, along with glxgears, so I'm not sure that I have an overall graphics issue, but something specific to Einstein's use of graphics.

I ran a search on my hard drive, and didn't find any libnvidia anything. Should this not have been included in the installation package I installed?

Mikie Tim T, you need to go
)
Mikie Tim T, you need to go to the nvidia web site and download the newest driver and run it. Nvidia requires the nvidia module to be recompiled everytime the kernel is changed.
