Hello everyone.

I've just started running boinc 5.2.14 on Gentoo, and I'm having trouble getting work. Everything seems to be functional, but I keep receiving a server message that my platform is unknown.

I've got the gui and command line running fine. Both show that the Einstein project is active. However, no work has been assigned. My project status always says "Communication deferred". When looking through the messages, all I can find is

although my computer info on the site is all accurate. It seems as though I'm getting this message every time I request work. Could this be the reason? and if so, does anyone know of a fix?

Have you self compiled your BOINC?
Then check your compiler settings and change it to i686 or use the binary BOINC from the download page.
Using the anonymous platform support should work too.

This platform is not recognized. The official platform name is 'i686' not 'i386'. You need to install a client that correctly reports the platform. Where did you get your client? I suggest you download the official one, pointed to from the front page of Einstein@Home.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Thanks for the quick replies. I actually used a masked Gentoo ebuild to compile the latest version (5.2.14). It's still in testing phase, so I'll check the ebuild to see that it's compiling it for the correct architecture. My system is set to compile for i686, but apparently it didn't work. If I can figure anything out, I'll post here and notify the maintainer of the build file for Gentoo.
