The GBT data chunk finished a while ago. For Arecibo the progress counter was out of sync for a while. Thanks, fixed (might take a bit to update).

Hallo! In Server Status

Hallo!

In Server Status Page, several parameters from BRP4G are dropping constantly since 28th July. I can show this in diagrams. Does BRP4G end soon?

Instead, the same parameters for FGRP5 are rising. This makes no sense to me, as BRP4G is for GPU, whereas FGRP5 is purely for CPU.

Kind regards and happy crunching

Hallo to Astro-Marwil!

Let me help make some sense to your question about BRP4G and FGRP5.

On the Einstein@Home Server Status page, this is the most current (within an hour) of Einstein's tasks.

Workunits and tasks

Work FGRP5 BRP7 O3AS BRP4 BRP4A BRP4G FGRPB1G Total
Tasks total 1,419,547 700,433 458,172 278,727 318,379 106,139 6 3,281,403
Tasks to send 4,479 7,509 50 8,184 4,434 1,424 0 26,080
Tasks in progress 441,953 159,046 80,444 48,498 49,870 22,754 0 802,565

While it may look like BRP4G is going to drop to zero tasks soon and be gone forever, it is not.  Let me explain...

There is a graphing software that is constantly being updated...

https://grafana.kiska.pw/d/si1T_qE7k/boinc-einstein?orgId=1&refresh=30s&from=now-2d&to=now

This software will show that the BRP4G constantly drops until some point, often zero, then gets refurbished, or refilled with tasks after several hours.  Here's a look at a 2-day time period.

As for FGRP5 it is somewhat different.  This is a look at a 6 hr time period, and you'll see that it shows constant +/- of movement, virtually not going above 5,000 or below 4,000 tasks.

I hope this helps!

BRP4G seems to be out of work

BRP4G seems to be out of work since 2024-08-30 18:30:00 (while the ready to send buffers for BRP4 and BRP4A increased at the same time)

Yes, that's intentional. That search has come to end, at least for the time being. We're going to deprecate it as soon as the remaining tasks all returned and all volunteers got their credits.

Thanks

I thought all BRP4

I thought all BRP4 applications run the same search and the BRP4G are simply 8 bundled BRP4 WUs? Or will all BRP4 searches end soon? Server status page shows 2510 days left of BRP4 work, but that was often wrong in the past.

Hi. You're right, this isn't

Hi. You're right, this isn't about the underlying data but resource distribution with regards to scientific priorities. We were in the process of acquiring a data set from a new telescope but that got "torpedoed" by a SNAFU at an external service provider. We're currently considering our options.

Best,
Oliver
