I'd say there's a 50% chance

I'd say there's a 50% chance that an Intel GPU might work using the ATI/AMD binary. this was the case for the BRP7 OpenCL app.

but you'd have to roll the app kind of manually with an app_info.xml file to run anonymous platform since the server is not setup to send O3AS tasks to Intel GPUs.

Intel CPU-only will not work however, this is a GPU application.

According to the applications page, there's no apps for Intel.

Thanks you.  I looked around for the information, thinking there would be some place that would tell what the requirements were for running on various computer setups, but I couldn't find it.

Just found the applications button.  Thanks again

Thanks.  Yes, this is a laptop with the CPU/GPU in one chip.  Guess I'm out of luck.

Just my .02 worth on

Just my .02 worth on this.

Even if you found an app, I wouldn't necessarily advise GPU computing on a laptop. They're really not designed to deal with that level of usage demand, and cooling issues would probably result, along with possible damage down the road. Laptops and heat are not a good mix.

Allen,

You should still be able to run CPU tasks!

That said you will want a "cooling table" to keep the processing from ruining your laptop because of heat.

He can't run CPU tasks for O3AS (the topic of this thread), because no CPU tasks exist for this application.

He would have to switch to FGRP#5 project.

It figures.  I would get reminded of "off topic"  :)

Why can't I get O3AS 1.14

Why can't I get O3AS 1.14 (cuda) app?   All O3AS tasks download, and run, with the 1.07 (opencl) app.  Back in March I allowed "run test apps" and got the beta apps up thru 1.15 but after the beta version testing was completed I reset "run test apps = no" thinking that the servers would download the production cuda app but that has never happened (after almost 90 days).  I see the 1.07 app and the 1.15 app in the project files but neither the 1.14, which I prefer, nor the 1.08 cuda apps.  (Yeah... I know the 1.15 and 1.08 are supposed to be the same.) During the beta app testing I did get the 1.14 downloaded and it ran a few work units but, apparently, when I dropped the "run test apps" option the 1.14 app got deleted as it was still beta status at the time.

What's the best way to "prod" the servers to give me the 1.14 app?  (I have "allow non-preferred apps = NO" as well as "run test apps = no".)  I have just tried draining (NNT) the cache of all GPU work and then resuming new work - hoping that might trigger a refresh/reload of any available cuda GPU apps.  No luck.

Next thing I would try is to completely drain the cache of all GPU and CPU work and then do a RESET PROJECT.  Is that the best thing to try?   Or anything else, short of making an app_info.xml file to force the cuda app?  As noted in the previous paragraph I have "non-preferred apps = no" so maybe I'm misinterpreting that option.  I thought it meant "... if no O3AS work then send FGRP5, etc..." but I have enabled all of those apps already anyway.

The 1.14 app was faster than the 1.07 app back in the beta testing so I would really prefer it.

Eugene, Excellent

Eugene,

Excellent question. Might try turning on test apps again?

I have separate folder that I keep backup copies of the apps, parameters files and app_info.xml files.

I have to resort to app_info.xml files. While I think there is a way to manually download apps so you can use them with an app_info file I don't know how.

Good luck!
