I sure wish Einstein would make this page:
Run only the selected applications
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo,GBT) (BRP4)
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo,GBT,long) (BRP4G)
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo,GBT,arm64) (BRP4A)
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (MeerKAT) (BRP7)
Gamma-ray pulsar search #5 (FGRP5)
Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 on GPUs (FGRPB1G)
All-Sky Gravitational Wave search on O3 (O3AS)
Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (GPU) (O3MDF)
Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (CPU) (O3MD1)
and THIS page, use the Same Names:
FGRP5 | BRP7 | BRP4G | O3AS | BRP4 | BRP4A | FGRPB1G |
---|
O3ASHF1b search progress, FGRP5 search progress, FGRPB1G search progress, BRP4 search progress, BRP7 search progress
Trying to figure out which type of task is for cpu's and which is for gpu's is easy on these lines:
Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (GPU) (O3MDF)
Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (CPU) (O3MD1)
Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 on GPUs (FGRPB1G)
BUT the other 6 lines have no suc cpu or gpu designations...why not?
On top of that, there are no choices to chose which type of task you want to run:
Total WUs | WUs left | WUs last day | days left | |

GBT | 22,031,744 | 975,520 | 0 | 1 |
Arecibo | 301,396,511 | 84,786,726 | 446,014 | 190 |
Total WUs | WUs left | WUs last day | days left | |

old | 10,581,255 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
dns | 15,200,000 | 1,956,737 | 36,788 | 53 |

EDIT:
... maybe wishes come true if posted on the wish list forum ????
BRP7 and O3AS are GPU-only
)
BRP7 and O3AS are GPU-only apps. and they have work.
FGRPB1G is a GPU app, but no longer has work.
BRP4 has an intel GPU app, but not other platforms
everything else is a CPU app.

Ya basically have to look at the versions available if they have an ATI/AMD or NV/CUDA version available for GPUs.
What always got me was the name needed for an app_config doesn't match. hsgamma_FGRPB1G and einstein_O3MDF as an example. Where is hs for hsgamma in Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 on GPUs (FGRPB1G)? There's no einstein in Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (GPU) (O3MDF). Just use FGRPB1G and O3MDF that matches between the App page, app selection page and app name.

The app_name used in the client_state.xml is the final authority. Just look there.

Yes but what do newbies do, they aren't going to know to do that, most people never even look at the Message Boards at all, if it isn't intuitive then people will just go elsewhere and that's not what any Project wants. People have been asking for this for a long time, it's not like it's hard to fix spend 10 minutes on it and be done forever. Next time an app gets added just make sure it conforms.

Yes but the comments in this thread are only headed into the ether. The admins don't read the forum threads every day. This request should be directed directly via PM to the admin who takes care of the project web pages.
