Holy this is impressive, on paper this card is not that much faster than the W7600 but seeing these results compared to my 7600 running at 3x the 7700 is completely outclassing it.

Makes me jealous I have to admit, I wanted the 7700 but it was not released yet, I couldn't wait and the 7600 turned out to be a bad card that is not worth it's money.

Have one PC with two W6600

Have one PC with two W6600 (0.9 CPU with 0.5 GPU) and 4 tasks parallel running since months.

This W7700 (0.9 CPU with 0.333 GPU) run atm with three tasks parallel and more creditpoints.

So the 7600 at 3 tasks has

So the 7600 at 3 tasks has the same run times as the 6600 at 2 tasks, that is till an impressive improvement.

But the 7700 has almost 1000 seconds shorter run times than the my 7600 running at 0.33. You said earlier the W7700 runs at 0.25 and now that it runs at 0.33, can you clarify which it is? At 0.33 that would be within the price gap, at 0.25 it would be a speed increase beyond the price gap.

have changed to .333 GPU,

have changed to .333 GPU, because of running other Projects (LHC - CMS, WCG) without GPU-use ftm.

Of course, 0.25 GPU is running well.

Have Win11pro workstation with watercooling.

For the summer, thinking ftm, 0.333 GPU can be a cooling problem.

So, 1.0 GPU instead of 0.5 GPU, 0.333 GPU or .25 GPU is an option for the summer.

80° C for this W7700 is the max. seeing this three days of work.

Two GPU tasks parallel.

That's not quite but almost the same run times that the W7600 has with one task at a time. Impressive.

W7700 800 seconds at 2x

W7600 740 seconds at 1x

Hallo! Where do I find

Hallo!

Where do I find previous drivers for my RX6600 for Windows?

I wasn’t successful in searching for in the support forum of AMD. For LINUX there is a hint, not so for Windows.

Background:

My PC is now shortly 1 year old. Then, after a Windows update, occurred a graphics driver failure and dozens of failing tasks of O3AS. After rebooting, all was ok, but I thought it might be wise to update the driver too. This was a failure. After doing so, Run Time became more than 5% longer and GPU-load was shrinking from 97% to 88% for crunching 4 tasks parallel. --  No wonder for me. These drivers are developed for best gaming experiences, not for optimal crunching scientific stuff. -- So I want to go back to a previous driver version. But where to get it ????

Kind regards and happy crunching

Martin

https://www.amd.com/en/support

Select from the drop down listings.

You will get to a page that offers Windows drivers.  Right below the main entries in VERY SMALL print is "previous drivers" this is where you will find all the available previous versions of your drivers.

My AMD 6600 is using  driver version 31.0.22017.3004 and is crunching SRBase TF tasks with no problems., it has crunched O3AS gpu tasks in the past also with no problems.
