Hi

I am running an AMD 7900X with 12 cores and a GTX3060 GPU. GPU tasks run fine but some CPU tasks are taking 10* or more longer than forecast. For example Gamma-ray pulsar seach #5 1.08 (FGRPSSE) starts with less than a hour forecast but after 55minutes is is forecat to take 4days!. I am having to abort some jobs regularly as there is no possibility the jobs will be complete before the deadline.

I am allowing BOINC to use 85% of CPU cores and upto 50% CPU load. Any suggestions please.

running both GPU and CPU

running both GPU and CPU tasks on the same machine gives you no chance that the forecasts will stabilize and be accurate.

The easy way to live with inaccurate forecasts is to set extremely low task prefetch queue depth.

Under Preferences|Computing|Advanced|Network usage

You might try "Store at least" 0.1 days of work

"Store up to an additional" 0.01 days of work

Taking care that you are adjusting the preferences for the Location (aka venue) on which your machine is running.

Or you could do as I do, and run GPU-only on a single task type--which allows the predictions to stabilize quite well, given the scheme that Einstein uses.

Thanks this suggestion works

Thanks this suggestion works well. CPU jobs now completeing within time frame and average work donr has increased from 30,000 to 90,000.
