Switch the forum to a modern software!

This message board is really old and boring. The last 20 years came new inventions in board software. There are many to choose from and not all messages must get into the new board.

Please switch to a modern board software!

Some of us like to stay with

Some of us like to stay with what works, and don't like changes which require us to make changes.  That being said, I'm nearly 70 yrs old and don't like changes myself, but am open to new ideas.

Just a thought from an oldie...

If you notice all the Boinc Projects use VERY similar message board software so I'm guessing it's built into the Boinc Server side software, going to something else can mean expenses that just aren't in the budgets for most projects.

Plus...  It may mean that someone, or some people, in each of the projects will need to take time away from what they are supposed to be doing (like making project tasks for us to work on) instead of doing what they're supposed to be doing.  I for one am content with the status quo.

I don't need to mention in bold type " Please switch to a modern board software! "

I agree with you but think that suggestions like this need to be made to the Developers so they can start working on doing an update. YES the current forums are working but also YES they could be alot better but it will take time and energy that the Developers, since they are all volunteers now, probably don't have or want to do. Personally I would love for some Company to be brought on board to do it and then they get the credit for it but NO I would not like to see ads in the forums for that to happen. A header saying ie 'forums provided by xyz' would be sufficient.

I couldn't agree with you more!  That is a great and beneficial idea!

The Einstein message board (Drupal) is actually more recent than standard Boinc one. This message board platform was taken into use maybe less than a decade ago.

If you've said: to speed up submitting posts, speed up navigating through threads, improving full text search, improving the editor offered to type in comments, I'd agree with you, but a new look? Why should anyone at einstein spend valuable time to improve the look of the forum? That's some phenomenon of modern times I don't understand and I'm not that old. Everything has to look new, fashioned, different, unique, cool.... No, I'd say only the content is important and its accessibility.

Just remember, this is a SCIENCE PROJECT based network, not a Social Network!  If you want to be active on Social Networks, go to the many, many different ones available to you.  Don't harp on us that are into this purely for the science of it.
