We have been suffering and dealing with several graphics problems. The majority of these can be corrected by installing the Einstein 0.18 "beta" app, detailed numerous places on these boards. Some remaining problems can be due to outdated graphics drivers, for both videocards and "embedded" or integrated graphics, as are sometimes found in desktop motherboards and are very common in laptops. These video drivers (and indeed all drivers), should be kept up-to-date.

Intel integrated drivers can be found here

ATI drivers are here.

nVidia drivers are here.

How to determine the manufacturer of your display adaptor.

Windows: Right-click "My computer" icon, click "properties", Hardware tab, Device Manager button. Click "+" next to Display adaptors, double-click the first entry in the indented listing that opens. On the General tab will be listed the manufacturer.

Someone versed in other OSs, PLEASE add info accordingly. I'd like this to take the form of a definative resource to which we can refer people.

In the mean time, here's some more driver sites:

Matrox
SIS (for integrated videochips)
VIA (for integrated videochips)

At all times, if you have an integrated videochip on your system, check your motherboard maker's site first for updated drivers.

I'm not trying to Promote

Message 21274 in response to message 21270

I'm not trying to Promote TREND, or Condemn any other Security Program: I am just trying to provide information on My Personal Experiences and Preferences.

I have heard that McAfee is known to sometimes Clash with certain Programs and Applications: However, I'm not sure if it Interferes with any of the Boing Projects, or not. I used to use McAfee, but it was causing Issues with my System (before my participation in Boing Projects), so I replaced it with TREND Micro Security Titanium. I haven't had any Related Problems since doing so.
If your Security Program is due, or almost due for Renewal, it may be worth considering changing over to TREND. It's a good idea to Actually Purchase a Hard Copy Disk and Not Just Download It Online, so that if you DO have any Problems, you can Immediately Reinstall it if you need to. I have tried 3 different Security Programs, and have found TREND my favorite; but that's just my Opinion.

I am using TREND Micro Titanium Internet Security 2012, which is the Middle of the Range. If you can, be sure to Purchase the Top Level Protection, TREND Micro Security Titanium 2012 (or better still 2013) Maximum Security.
