It's very interesting to look at the graphical presentation of some of the stats over the last 60 days for both Seti and EAH. Scroll down the page and look for graphs (for the last 60 days) showing things like total credit, credit per day, total users, new users per day, total hosts, new hosts per day, etc.
It's very interesting to see just how much Seti has slowed down under the overload. Perhaps it's just a problem with getting the stats data out of Seti but it sure looks grim. EAH, by contrast, continues to set new peaks. Yesterday looks like a new record for both new users and new hosts per day over the plotted time period. A month ago, EAH was welcoming about 150 new users per day. Yesterday it was around 800. A month ago about 270 new hosts per day were being added. Yesterday it was nearly 1150. No wonder the Help Desk volunteers are feeling a little stretched :).
You shouldn't be congratulating me. I haven't done anything!! It's just interesting to see the mass movement of people due to the impending closure of Seti classic and how various projects are coping with the onslaught.
I feel very sorry for the helpers over at Seti who must be having a very hard time explaining things to new BOINC'ers. It would be difficult enough to cope with the startup questions on their own without the added huge burden of trying to explain why the servers are not responding to upload/download requests. At least we seem to have enough horsepower here, hopefully.
E@H has absorbed an 11% increase in users in as many days without a visible hiccup. I am impressed.

..as a long time seti hard core cruncher i migrated to boinc a few weeks ago. Seti under boinc runs ok..more or less..till 4.th of dec. Since then they are in big trouble.
To keep my crunchers crunchin i searched another project. E@H looked like a valuable alternative...so i give it a try on one box. And i am very impressed. E@H runs very smooth..it shows me Boinc behaving, as it should..
Anyway, if the Seti Guys will fix their Problems, i will switch back..
I think a lot of your new volunteers are here for similar reasons..

I think your observation about about the new volunteers is accurate. I hope you and others will not abandon us entirely when Seti sorts outs its current problems.
I thought I would add a bit of 'behind-the-scenes' data to this thread.
When Einstein@Home first started up, we delayed our launch so that we could first put new server and database hardware into place. We sized these so that we could handle about one million active users. The idea was that as the project grew, we would not have to keep upgrading this hardware.
Right now (10 December 2005) our database server is showing about a 5% load, and our project server is showing about an 8% load. While it is daring the gods to say this, I don't anticipate any problems due to rapid growth during the past few weeks, or during the next few weeks. We still have a lot of room for growth!
Part of the problem that SETI is experiencing is because their project is built around donated hardware, some of which is a few years old and no longer state-of-the-art. Einstein@Home is running on just two modern high-end Linux server boxes, so our hardware is both faster and more reliable. We also purchased identical backup systems for both the project server and database server, so that these can be swapped into place quickly if the production hardware acts up.
I talk quite a lot with David Anderson, and know that SETI is working as hard as they can to address and fix the problems that they are encountering. This is hard since (like Einstein@Home) they are not a well-funded project and a handful of people are doing all the work. I am sure that SETI will fix their problems, but it may take some time. Meanwhile, SETI users should celebrate BOINC's multi-project capability and donate their CPU cycles to other projects! This capability, after all, was one of the primary reasons why David created BOINC.

Thanks Bruce. I'm so happy for all the support you guys give us here. I feel like E@H is a real community. As for people looking for stuff to crunch, this is one of two projects I consistently reccommend (the other being Rosetta). Both project feature good graphics (and thanks for the work on the pesky graphics bug) and good feedback for the developers.
I'm so glad I found BOINC. I think I could be considered a fanatic or addict :)

today i must extend to "it shows me, how well a Boinc Project in all aspects could be managed and driven".
If you take into account whats going on at seti in the last weeks its easy to guess why i make this modification.
As a Result i decided to switch my farm to E@H 100%, holding Seti only as a backup project. And regardless what they will doin there in the future, this will be permanent.
