I knew that looked wrong. But that is what the dumb internet defined it as. Should have gone with what my poor memory recollection instinctively told me.
The only project I crunch for that I know specifically has compiled apps for AVX is TN-Grid. They have 3 different compiled versions of the cpu app. SSE2, AVX and FMA. On my AMD processors, they all converged on the FMA app as fastest.
Asteroids cpu tasks are using SSE3 and AVX on some of my pc's, not the same on any pc, one of the ones using AVX is this one:
The Eagles were the favorite, but the Chiefs played an excellent 2nd half. I liked the Chiefs anyway, and ultimately I would like to see Patrick Mahomes eventually beat out Tom Brady with more Super Bowl wins.

The top performing one Clear OS apparently is not easy to learn. But if you are installing it on 5-10 servers it is worth it.
This is also what I found for the TR CPUs. I installed Clear and have BOINC up and running without any issues. It definitely seems different than Mint (which I have only tried at the surface level) and not as simple.

Agreed- this is something I will be watching closely. I am not yet willing to run these systems overnight until I have seen them in action for weeks on-end during the day (mainly because of the 4090 GPUs- which will be fully plugged in).

I also agree with this. If Clear doesn't work for us, we will most likely be using Mint. I do not think Clear will be able to do as many things as Mint, but we are willing to give it a try. Thank you for the video links- I have lots to learn and pass on to the students.

Definitely. The GREAT news is that the Nvidia 4090 GPUs came in today! We may or may not have time to install tomorrow. As soon as they are in, we will snap some final pictures and I will post. The builds look clean. WCG is running on both right now (still with the old AMD FirePro GPUs, temporarily). CPU temps are around 65C under full load. Incredibly quiet systems.

My understanding is if you can get Boinc running with the standard E@H apps you can run Petri's optimized apps. It will run in both "repository" and tBar's AIO versions of Boinc.

I can answer for Petri since I’m kind of the liaison for the apps. The FGRPB1G app has been tested extensively with Debian based distributions (Ubuntu, Mint, Debian itself). I don’t see any reason other distributions won’t work as long as you meet the application dependencies.
before you run the application, run ldd on the executable to check for any missing dependencies, simply install anything that shows as missing.

I also agree with this. If Clear doesn't work for us, we will most likely be using Mint. I do not think Clear will be able to do as many things as Mint, but we are willing to give it a try. Thank you for the video links- I have lots to learn and pass on to the students.
