Presuming the problem is motherboard related what would you suggest his current MB be replaced with? Psu replacement should be straight forward. If there is a GPU failure I am not sure if a direct replacement is even possible.
I will note the actual CPU count is 16 rather than 128. Setting the CPU core count higher is a workaround to get the e@h scheduler to allow more tasks to be downloaded.

this part doesnt makes sense. the system reports 6x 16GB gfx906 GPUs and performs about on par with 6x Radeon VII, and from my previous experience examining his reported tasks, all GPUs in the system are identical, not some different GPUs hidden behind what's reported by BOINC. gfx906 = Vega 20. and there are only 3 models of 16GB card from this generation; Instinct MI50, Radeon VII, and Radeon Pro VII. all are single GPU cards and perform about the same among each other (for einstein).
if it was 4x dual GPU, it would be reporting 8 GPUs. 6 would indicate 3x dual-GPU cards. but these also dont really exist in the Vega 20 generation. I'm aware of one card, the Radeon Pro Vega II Duo, but that's only for Mac Pros and is physically incompatible with PCs.
you should get some more clear information about what GPUs these are exactly.

I don't know enough about models to suggest any thing in particular but seeing his system has 32gb of ram it would make sense to buy a board that accommodates that rather than having him buy a new set of ram. I also think if you went on New Egg or even Amazon and put in the cpu model you would get a bunch of compatible mb's to look at, then you can start searching for the best place to get one.
Finally remembered to spec the Intel CPU. It is an lga 2066 which via Newegg makes it is one of 3 7 slot motherboards.
I still suspect there are riser ribbons in there which implies the case is more mining frame-like.
But it looks like if the MB died it is replaceable.
