You and I were both responding at much the same time. I had been looking through his failed tasks and had noted his GPU. After I posted, I only then saw your response and got as far as the first line. It was about 10.00PM and I was supposed to be long gone.
In case the OP was tempted to follow your nvidia drivers suggestion and without reading any further, I fired off a quick warning as I was walking out the door.
Since you knew exactly what his GPU was, why on earth would you tell him his first problem was no nvidia drivers?
Another idea is examine any of the Windows systems which are running Radeon gpus in the top 50 list. What driver version are they using?
Is it possible to see the driver versions in use ?
I thought Boinc won't show driver version for any of the newer AMD gpus. Only for the old Radeon HD series cards if they have driver something like 1.4.xxxx
Anything like R9, RX, Vega and newer chips (including the integrated gpus in Ryzen cpus) ... Boinc shows GPU memory only.

Your right. I apologize. I have a Windows box I run BOINC on intermittently. And it has been a while since I ran a Radeon/AMD GPU on it. Since I no longer own any Radeon gpus (except a 2200G iGPU) I had forgotten.
I do run Ubuntu systems for BOINC and clearly my memory bleed over...

I'm surprised nobody has commented on the ton of permanent download errors that have cropped on FGRPB1G tasks in the last few days.
Didn't realize the error limit was set at 20 before retiring errored tasks. These bad tasks get passed around to a lot of hosts unnecessarily in my opinion.

yeah i've been seeing download failures pretty regularly too. but it's a small percentage and it's not wasting my computational time so its water under the bridge for me.
I've seen a sudden spike in the last 12 hours or so, from around 150 errors to over 300 errors (across all hosts). The vast majority of these are these download errors.
I've also had a handful of tasks - at least earlier on - when my machine was able to process the work but then the work could not be validated because of these download errors. For example: https://einsteinathome.org/workunit/688343421 (assuming it's still available for viewing).
