Just checking my weather data for Rockford, IL, USA, and it is going to be in the 40's ( F ) 'til next Saturday.  Then it will dip to a high in the 30's with an occasional snow flurry, with an dip into the upper 20's until at least Christmas.

These are all high's predicted by AccuWeather.com, with the low's reaching into the upper teen's the week of Christmas.  I don't put much faith in weather forecasts beyond three weeks, though AccuWeather does have a somewhat believable forecast for the next 4 months.  I just think it is from the Farmer's Almanac.   LOL

Wouldn't it be nice to be a TV weatherman?  Just think, you could be wrong about nearly everything, and still have a job the next day.    LOL

Prediction:  An inch of snow will be on the ground by Christmas.  (...but don't bet on it...)

George I just wanted to tell you I live in North Carolina 1.5 miles from the Ocean and it was in the mid 60's today!! It was really nice weather though a bit chilly actually on the beach due to the wind coming off the water. It will be in the low 50's tomorrow and then over the next few days work it's way back up to near 70's again for next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and then the highs will drop again back down into the mid 50's. Christmas should also be in the mid 50's though the last few days of December into early January are usually our coldest time of year where it can drop a little below freezing at night and the mid 40's during the day then it usually pops back up into the mid 50's and up after that for highs

Is that a prediction or a hope, George?

Well, it would be nice as I've lived in the midwest all my life, and it is nice and expected to see snow on the ground for Christmas.  But, with 'global warming' (if you believe in such a thing, which I do) it is a may-or-may-not be sort of thing.

I would like to move somewhere where it is nice and warm (not hot) and dry (arid) year round, such as the southwest.  But, with the rivers drying up (look up the Colorado and Mississippi rivers on google), I don't think that move would be actually beneficial.

So...  I'll just stay and enjoy the semi-warm/cool and dry winters and survive the brutal hot and humid summers with A/C.  There are worse places to live, for sure.  But I'm just stuck with what I have.   :>(

.....EDIT.....

Well, I decided to help those of Einstein, and others, by giving you at least one view of our water crisis:

https://www.youtube.com/@TimeBombTV/videos

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/lake-mead-water-level-historic-low-drought-heres-what-that-means/

While our drought scenario continues to this day, and the fact that many people in the east are oblivious to what is going on in the west, remember this; if Lake Meade drops to the the point of not being able to provide electrical power generated by the hydropower turbine generators in the Hoover Damn, think of how many millions of homes and businesses will go dark, and the agricultural farming that will be lost.

And of course this is not just an American drought issue, it is a world wide issue.

Food for thought!!

If there IS a next day...

Just watched that old movie where Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe" plays in the clock radio every morning and some TV weatherman was still unhappy with his job. It was filmed just around the corner in Woodstock, Illinois.   ;-)

That would be "Groundhog Day" with Bill Murray.

Well, as I said in another posting, I'm not comfortable with any more than a three day forecast.  So today, Friday, Dec 9th, it is 4 days out from before, it snowed a slushy snow - maybe an inch - and no warmer that 35॰ F.

And the TV Weatherman still has a job!  Go figure...

If they fired a weatherman everytime they were wrong, or even after 5 or 10 times of being wrong, every weatherman would be recycled thru all the channels about 50 times

Or the 'whatever man'

Or the 'whatever man' ?

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind ....

Actually where I live, South East Australia as the Roaring Forties go by, we nearly always get our weather from the west or southwest ( Antarctica ). But we have the El Nino & La Nina oscillation over the southern Pacific Ocean with multi-year timelines and this intermittently gives sequences of drought or flood years to the inland areas. In South Australia there is the so called Goyder's Line - defined by a surveyor in the late 1800's - which determines whether you will have pastoral land or cropping succeed. They have fine wines indeed there. Anyway, for the coasts it depends on the weather as it approaches the Great Dividing Range and consequently a 'rain shadow' exists to the north and west of that. In good years it is gorgeous country to the eye, in bad years even the rabbits are on the dole.

Cheers, Mike.
