Wow, this is backwards from the norm! :-) Welcome to BOINC, and rest assured, Einstein is one of the _most_ stable projects. Your problem is that you have processed and returned a number of results, but they have all had errors. Based on the errors, the number of results you are "allowed" in a day is decreased each time - a good result returned increases this, so shortly you'll be back on track.

The errors all _appear_ to be the same thing, a known "bug" that affects the "standard" Einstein app when the screensaver or graphics is run on an ATI-brand graphics card. Two fixes - don't run the graphics either manually or through the screensaver, OR, install the "beta" Einstein application that's available off of the home page. I would recommend doing the first of these first, at least long enough to get one or two results returned to verify that the error is gone. If it truly is, then installing the "beta" will solve it for you.

If not running the graphics, you still have errors, then we'll have to dig deeper, but my bet is 99% on the graphics bug.

Any other questions, feel free to ask!

I am a new BOINC user, having always had the old SETI Classic,I am currently running SETI and EAH, dont seem to have a problem with SETI but EAH keeps telling me i have reached my daily quota of results, yesterday it told me that my limit was 2, today its 1.

The supply of WUs is limited to 8 per day and CPU. For every unsuccessful one it will be reduced, and is increased again fo every successful one.

Your host is producing nothing but client errors, so your quota is down to one.
No idea what is causing these. This might be the infamous graphics bug.
(It's mentioned all over the board.)

Hi Lynette, I'd also like

Hi Lynette,

I'd also like to welcome you to EAH.

Bill's advice is spot on as always. I also agree with his suggestion to disable the graphics for a couple of days to see if the problem of the "Client errors" stops. You can best do that by using Windows to set your screensaver to "Blank" and make sure you don't try out any "show graphics" options in BOINC Manager. As you produce good results, your daily limit will quickly rise back to 8/day. There is a new science app coming "soon" :) which should fix these pesky graphics problems.

Good luck!!

Cheers,
Gary.

No problems!! You are most

No problems!! You are most welcome.

We are really enjoying the influx of new faces that is occurring and we want to make you all feel as comfortable as possible. After all, BOINC is a pretty complex piece of software and it's easy to feel totally at sea with it for a while :).

Cheers,
Gary.

Hi Robert,

I'm sorry you are having problems. You should have posted here sooner rather than continued suffering for several days.

I have tried resetting, detaching ...

Unfortunately these are probably the very things that you should NOT be doing to solve a problem that has started "out of the blue". What you should be doing is taking a copy of the messages you see in your BOINC Manager and posting them here as there is probably something visible there that will say exactly what the problem really is.

I am running BOINC Manager 5.2.5 ...

You attached your current 2.80GHz box on 26 Sept and it last had contact on 01 December. It looks like it got detached at that point. You have just reattached it but it has no work.

I don't think BOINC 5.2.5 was around back on 26 Sept so do you remember what version you had then and do you remember when you upgraded to 5.2.5? Can you also tell us how you connect to the internet and if you have been disabling that connection or suspending projects through your BOINC Manager? Have you been adjusting any preference settings on the website? You need to think back and tell us exactly what you were doing when things suddenly stopped working. I can assure you that there have been no issues with the servers that would account for your problems.

Gary, What ever is going on

Gary,
What ever is going on is effecting all the projects except for Climate Predictor. No settings were changed. There are no error messsaes in the "Messages" section. Each of the show up "Projets" section but only the Climate Predictor show up in the "Work" section.

Robert, to help, we need SOME info from you. Go to the Projects tab, select one of the projects that you do NOT have work from, and hit "update". Then go to the Messages tab and copy the messages you get in response and paste them here.

I am getting no downloads.

I am getting no downloads. These are the messages when I try:
12/7/2005 10:18:28 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi
12/7/2005 10:18:28 PM|SETI@home|Reason: Requested by user
12/7/2005 10:18:28 PM|SETI@home|Note: not requesting new work or reporting results
12/7/2005 10:18:33 PM|SETI@home|Scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi succeeded

The same thing happens when einstein tries.
