Just a quick note to be aware of installing the Nvidia driver as above. For myself on this host it yielded a string of 184 failed WUs ( as compute error ) over five days, each dropping out after merely three seconds with the same problem eg.

2022-06-28 06:32:47.6317 (2358) [normal]: Start of BOINC application '../../projects/einstein.phys.uwm.edu/einstein_O3AS_1.01_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu__GW-opencl-nvidia'.
[DEBUG} GPU type: 1
[ERROR] Couldn't get OpenCL device from BOINC (-1)!

Problem solved by reverting to the 510.73.05 driver.

Cheers, Mike.

Thanks for the post Mike.

Thanks for the post Mike.  Always a crap-shoot on just released drivers.  If you don't need them to support the latest hardware release, best to stick with tried and true, stable series drivers.

To be fair to Nvidia they

To be fair to Nvidia they haven't tested usage with Pop!_OS, as per their support documents. I guess I just did that though. :-)

Cheers, Mike.

A new type of machine washing

A new type of machine washing powder for delicates. :-)

Seriously, I gather from the user guide one can combine multiple A100 GPUs* in a hardware array with NV proprietary links and switches, to make the GPUs appear as a single object ( with a single memory space ). OMG what one could do with such a virtualisation, a beastly composite of beasts. Someone will/has probably make/made a supercomputer from these.

Cheers, Mike.

* One of which you can get for AUD $23K ! And yes, you can put that on a PCIe bus !

Mike, your image doesn't show

Mike, your image doesn't show up in Firefox (v101) either, and I'm using Ubuntu.  I'll check into it later.

.....[EDIT].....

It just appeared when I came back to this thread.  Did you do something with the file, or maybe my Firefox program that came with Ubuntu got a behind the scenes update and I wasn't aware.

Nope, it is still v101.0.1 (64 bit).  Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0

Mike,    Image is fine in

Mike,

Image is fine in Firefox v.97 (Debian); this is v.97 direct from mozilla and not the distribution package... but, one moment please...  it is also o.k. in the v.91.7 firefox-esr Debian package (3/26/22 release).

I also see a nice credit surge.  It appears to be the result of FGRPB1G work units yielding 3465 credits (in ~10 minutes run time) vs. the O3AS1 work units yielding 1000 credits (in ~13 minutes run time).  And with O3AS1 wrapping up I/we am/are getting lots more FGRPB1G work units.  As noted in another thread, however, the FGRPB1G set has only ~18 days of work remaining - so we better enjoy the credit boost while we can!
