I heard that the S5 science run was supposed to start on November 05, 2005. Did it start as planned? This is also to be at design sensitivity I believe.
When do you anticipate starting to put S5 data onto Einstein@home?

Maybe there's something more to find in the S4 data – I noticed that I started getting L1 work units only just yesterday, so hopefully everything's finally good at Livingston (felled trees wreaking seismic havoc there, as Ben Owen pointed out in this thread)...

Although I'm still crunching S4 WUs, I was nosing around the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory and unless I'm mistaken, S5 is underway! Under the "Observatories" category, you can click on either "Hanford Electronic Logs" or "Livingston Electronic Logs", to see some most excellent GUIs, graphs, and data. Those who understand the various terms will have a deeper appreciation of various data... (Follow the instructions when first prompted to enter "reader" for the user name and "readonly" for the password.)

IMHO, communication from the E@H has been reduced to a trickle lately. Not recommended if they want to keep people interested enough to support the effort.....

Unless I'm really seriously mistaken, the E@H server is in Wisconsin, and the link I posted above is to a server in California (on the WWW, which means anyone connected to the Internet can click on it, not just us E@H crunchers). I noticed the 'trickle' earlier too, and it seems to be fine, now... For anyone interested in the science of gravitational wave detection, I highly recommend you take a look at the fascinating nitty gritty of it... Don't worry, you won't break anything. :)
edit - TFFE team members should probably stick to the 'buddy system' - don't want anyone getting lost!

Actually, I wasn't sure about the ramifications of the team's use of a 'collective IQ' and I was also a bit concerned about the TFFE team member who types with his forehead... If you're gonna go swimming in the deep end, best to have a buddy, and the LIGO Electronic Log data's plenty deep. :) (Wasn't worried about you, Es99, your stroke's quite graceful, if I may say so.)

Hmmmm. I'd bookmarked the report a while ago because it looked really interesting. Sadly I haven't had the time to look at it yet. I'll get to it at somepoint..maybe by Christmas.

This is "Figure of Merit 3" from the Hanford Detector Log (on 22 Nov 2005). I'm definitely in over my head (without a buddy!) and have a couple questions:
1) Is the blue plot on the "BurstMon h_rss @ 50%" chart showing the gravitational wave perturbation upon the arm with the test mass?
2) How does the Signal to Noise Ratio plotted as function of Time in the "Online Binary Inspiral Search" chart relate to the Work Units that E@H participants are (or will be) crunching?

You may have been right, Rog. I seem to have broken the "GRB on November 3" thread by linking to LIGO Hanford's Site Overview...
If anyone gets prompted to enter a user name and password when trying to see the "GRB on November 3" thread, enter "reader" and "readonly". Hopefully Gary or another moderator can fix it...
