This is my first time posting so please pardon me if i don't know some of the proper terminology :)

Today I noticed I had a large backlog of pending tasks; some were actually pending but some workunits like https://einsteinathome.org/workunit/590711777 or https://einsteinathome.org/workunit/590909259 were unverified even though both tasks were uploaded - do I just need to wait or is this a problem with my computer/BOINC?

Welcome to Einstein!

While I don't run Gravitational Wave search O3 All-Sky #1, I would suspect that you should just wait a few days (2-3) and see if they do become validated.  Presently, there are 182,675 task pending just for O3AS, so I would wait.

There is no problem at your end.  You can see what is causing this on the server status page.

Under the "Workunits and tasks" heading, look down for the "Backlogs" sub-heading and notice that there are a large number of O3AS tasks listed as 'waiting for validation'.  The reason for this is shown over near the left side of the page where the "O3AS1a validator" is listed as "disabled" (scroll down until you find it).  For some reason, the validator is disabled at the moment so the queue is growing quite a bit.

Maybe it has crashed or maybe they are holding it back for some reason.  No doubt it will get resolved at some point so nothing is being lost and the queue will eventually be presented for validation.

Cheers,
Gary.
