I am not sure how well this will show up.
This is the only one I have had like this. Two others got credit for the WU, but I got zero. Did my result differ somehow from the other two and got rejected?

Why zero credit

Validate state invalid ...
You can read up on the pages in the Wiki ... look at the result Page in particular.
"Sucess" only means that the client program detected no fatal error ... it does *NOT* imply that the work was useful.

Thanks! I read it and understand what is happening better now...
Still concerned though, that my results for this WU (and the only one so far) didn't jive with two other computers...

It can, and does, happen to all of us.
There are things that can make it happen more often. Overclocking, too much heat, etc.
WIthout a lot more information, and a trend, it is hard to say why this may be happening. But, if it is only once in awhile, well, cost of business unfortunately. That is why I run more than one computer ... just in case ... :)

Neutrinos, by definition are neutral ... so, they won't cause a bit flip ... high energy gamma rays however ...

I've had this happen once as well... did you say that you were using a mac? I've got a duel boot linux/xp and if I come up against three windows machines when in linux they tend to use those results and give me no credit...
I have also noticed that windows machines try and claim alot more credit than mac/linux machines...

Sad but true. Bruce gives an explanation over there.

I just checked, of the 82 i have listed in the account I have 2 with 0 credit.
Of course, we do get the benefit from the other side, where, usually, we are the low claimers in the quorum of results and therefore get the boost in credit for the work completed successfully.
This is one of the harder things to get used to with BOINC. How if the work does not validate it does not get a reward. But, it truly does make sense.
Over time, statistics say that we are all going to be hit with roughly the same error rate as everyone else ... so, standings wise it matters not ... not a lot of comfort I know ...
RE: Over time, statistics
)
This is only true when the process behind the error rate is truly random. If zero credit awards or consistently low credit are not random, then the error rate will never even out.
