The following Task Version shows "BETA" but the date shows 20 Feb 2015.  Is the date wrong or did someone forget to remove the BETA status ?

Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) (BRP4)

Microsoft Windows running on an AMD x86_64 or Intel EM64T CPU 1.34 (opencl-intel_gpu-Beta) (beta test)

Thanks

No the date is correct.  All

No the date is correct.  All the BRP4 Windows Intel igpu applications are from 2015 or earlier.

Nothing wrong with the task.

Ok since the Date is correct

Ok since the Date is correct is there a reason or purpose to keep a task version in Beta status for 5-6 years ?  By now it has been determined, I assume, that it is an acceptable and stable version.

BETA's only get released to volunteers who agree to run Test units for for the Project under Project Preferences.

Thanks

I guess the admins never

I guess the admins never bothered with deprecating the beta plan_class for BRP4.  That application is of very low importance to the project.

Looking at the single day difference in release dates of the 1.34 beta app and the release version, I'd hazard a guess that there is minimal difference in the code in the applications.  Likely only a version change is the only difference.

So running the beta version or the release version probably makes absolutely no difference in the science.

You are probably right on the

You are probably right on the money that there is very little difference in the two versions. If they made the change to remove the BETA status they may or may not have the option to stop creating one version of the application which would only be a minor efficiency gain. Then again deficiency has a value when you are running a project this size. Perhaps a moderator will notice the thread and pass it on to an Admin.
