Seeing the same kind of utilization and power usage on the new GRP beta app. Cards are only working at half the wattage 60% of the time. Not using the cards available power as well as the 1.20 application did.
The fix was adding a check for a boundary condition at a certain place in a loop. I was indeed expecting that this conditional would slow down that part of the code. I'll try to think of some more elaborated way to handle that next week.
But so far it's good to know that the problem is what we analyzed, and the fix works.
In the meantime I issued v1.24 (also Beta Test), this time including a Windows version. No change to the (GPU) code compared to 1.23.
Thanks for the update Bernd. I can concur, the new beta 1.23 app is working great.
Now, can you comment on the unusual situation of the sudden, aborted GW S2 run and the appearance of the new S3, very unusual startup of the GW S3 run.
Just completed 3 work units using "Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 on GPUs 1.24" in the same timeframe that i would have expected a few weeks ago. This is on my 1660ti, one that showed the significant slowdown on the L00 work units. So it's looking good, as others have confirmed as well.
Hadn't monitored my BOINC stuff this in a while, but it seems I am affected by the hanging tasks issue also. Have several errored tasks with the "exceeded elapsed time limit" error, here's one of them:

Just aborted the 2 FGRP GPU tasks I had. Should I change preferences or do you think the recent fix I see discussed id going to go live soon?
Thanks.

As Harri mentioned, you just need to go into the preferences and allow beta apps and you'll get the new app that works.
