Where would I find the files that the 'event log' says I should consider aborting?

There are over 2400 files within this folder that appear to be active files from before the first of the year, and between the 'in progress' and 'pending' counts I currently have 2344 tasks, plus another 1141 'error' tasks for E@H just on my 3950X machine.

I have reduced my cache to near zero (0.1 in "store at least" and 0.0 in "additional" work) so I'm hoping that will help me start over.

I want to clear up my 'ancient' file history and see if I can start from scratch to reduce, if not eliminate, the error or invalid tasks.

I would just reset the project.  That starts everything over.

I have done that more than once. I have used that trick to clear out and over subscription of cpu tasks more than once.

The event log suggestion was

The event log suggestion was that the original poster Abort Tasks, not that he delete files.

This is easy to do.

Assure Boinc Manager is in the Advanced View mode.  To do this, Left click the View menu item, and select Advanced View.

Select the Tasks tab.

If Deadline is not already a column in view, adjust the selection of columns displayed:

Options|Select Columns|Tasks

With the deadline column displaying, you may need to drag the column borders to get enough text displayed to make sense.

Left-clicking at the top of the deadline column gets you the current tasks sorted by deadline.  In the circumstances of the original poster, it makes sense to select a large number of the ones with deadlines in the past or the too-near future, and click the "abort" button.

This tells BOINC that you don't want to do that task.  If you start madly deleting underlying files instead of doing proper abort, BOINC does not know that, and will try to repair the damage by sending new copies, wasting everyone's resources.

George, the comment is not mainly aimed at you, as with three days gone by I imagine you have taken your own measures.  It is rather aimed at others who might find this thread.

I fully understand ARCHAE86, and I thank you for mentioning that.  All to often many people don't think about others when they post.  Thanks again.

As for ABORTING tasks versus deleting them, I'll admit that I wasn't aware of your procedure versus just using the 'reset' button.  I did 'reset' my E@H tasks more than once, and I'm letting it ride for now.  I may try your method tomorrow or Monday.
