I'm proud to announce the latest Einstein@Home discovery, which was published today in Astrophysical Journal Letters. This identifies a "black-widow" pulsar in data from the Large Area Telescope on board the Fermi satellite. Our discovery resolves the nature of a mysterious source, first seen two decades ago by the EGRET satellite. We now know that the powerhouse at the center of this source is a remarkable binary system, consisting of a pulsar in close orbit with a very lightweight star. The analogy is made with the Black Widow spider where the larger female spider eats the male spider for food for their offspring...
