I'm glad to see that you're

I'm glad to see that you're back crunching again.

There is a different search running - the gamma-ray pulsar search.  Previously you were running a search for radio pulsars.  The new search takes longer, about 5 times longer on your machine, judging by your results  but the credit award is about 11 times higher.  If you're interested in credit, you'll do a lot better with the new search :-).

Cheers,
Gary.

I saw on my machine that a work unit had aborted. I came here to find out what had happened. I need the regular BOINC page to do that, but can't find it. Where is it?

There is no regular Boinc

There is no regular Boinc page for Einstein@home, it's all made in Drupal here.

To check on your results click on "Account" in the navigation menu up top and then look to the left under the graph, there you'll find a table with your computer/computers, either click on the "Tasks" link under the graph or click on the name of the computer and then on the line called "Tasks" click on the number of tasks assigned to the computer.

Or just click this link to get you there.

Thanks. Okay, I found the,

Thanks. Okay, I found the, rather lengthy, output. The last set of messages reads...

I've set NNT for now.

Well, instead of looking at

Well, instead of looking at the actual output in the Stderr output, look at the info above and especially at the line "Exit status". Thant line reads: "197 (0x000000C5) EXIT_TIME_LIMIT_EXCEEDED".

Something caused this task to run for enough time that Boinc aborted it.
When the project generates tasks there's a safeguard built in that aborts tasks that run for to long, it's there to stop task that's caught in a loop or some other kind of problem causing them to not make any progress.

If it's just the one task then the problem was intermittent or a once off and not a problem now, just keep an eye out. If it's more than one, or many, then look at the running conditions and see if something is slowing the tasks down or stopping them from making progress.

Thanks for pointing out the precise problem.  In this particular case, I'm afraid that continuing to try extra tasks is probably just going to be a waste of time.  He has an old AMD Pitcairn series GPU (I have many of these) that works well on gamma-ray pulsar tasks.  I tried one of mine some time ago on GW tasks.  The result was exactly what the OP is experiencing.  The tasks run extremely slowly and, if not aborted, will exceed the time limit.  One particular characteristic is that a task seems to start quite quickly (this is simulated progress only) and after quite a while the progress resets to a very low value and then crawls from there until the time limit kicks in.

The OP has lots of successful results for the GRP tasks.  His failure was on the first GW task.  I saw much the same on Linux and I suspect the old proprietary driver (fglrx) that I use for Linux is probably very much the same as the Windows driver the OP is using.   My advice would be to go back to GRP tasks which do work.  If the OP really wants to do the GW tasks, a more modern GPU is probably the best solution.  He has a decent i7 CPU.  If he had something like an RX 570 running 4x, he could be producing GW results about every 6 mins or so, provided there was enough CPU support for the GPU running the 4 tasks - essentially 1 CPU thread per concurrent GPU task..

Cheers,
Gary.

Okay. First, I will try to

Okay. I will try to find the place where I can choose the project type. On the original BOINC pages used by almost all projects, this was very easy. I'll abort the already downloaded GW and leave NNT in place for now. Out of the immediate, I'll start looking for a new GPU, the ones I have seemed adequate, although,I stopped GPU crunching on one, I noticed a pattern of black dots on the screen covering about 25%, and assumed this was due to the load imparted by GPU crunching. The dots are not in a fixed position, if I redraw the screen, they return in new positions.

<edit>

I think I have found the place and removed the GW tasks.

Indeed, released, the

Indeed, released, the project, has only downloaded NNT. I'll leave it like that until the grphics cards are updated. You mentioned the RX570, looking around, there would appear to be higher spec chips, is there a reason why the RX570 was chosen?

Another thing I noticed is that there are several manufacturers using the chip. Any pointers?
