There are no more "Client errors" on the EAH website so all is normal and 384 for your virtual memory should be plenty. Now all we need are the latest football scores :).

Cheers,
Gary.

If anyone else knows of good easy ways to save cpu cycles then please chime in. If we get desperate, I'll probably get Ariane to turn off any unneeded services that might be running. ...

Ariane: I have a Mac, and so I am not all that familiar with Windows, but here are two things to check. Gary can probably tell you how to check the first one.

1) Check to make sure the CPU is not throttled back. On some laptops, there is an option to slow down the processor to reduce the heat load.

2) Elevate your laptop off the desk by putting a couple of sticks under it, or a cooling rack such as the one used in the kitchen to cool bread or cake. Letting the air circulate under the laptop will help keep it cook (and running faster).

Dear C , thank you for your care, i checked the CPU, it is not throttled back , and my laptop is not on a desk but on floor and a lot of things(books) under it, so the air circulates freely , not any problem, i used for this setting a huge book of mythology with hard cover as desk and between it and the labtop 2 small books of "the 1000 and 1 nights" (the tales of Sheherezad) with very hard cover, don't worry the heat problem is set.

On the other hand i didn't forget your McNN team, i would be glad to join it surely, thank you for your help .

Cheers

Message 17442 in response to message 17414

BlackViper used to have a very good page for this which now seems to have been hijacked by "Network Solutions" claiming to own "www.blackviper.com"???? Does anyone know what is going on with BlackViper??
Gary,

Here's a mirror link for BlackViper.

Michael, thanks very much for that. I owe a lot of the little I do know about XP services to the original site so I got a heck of a shock to see it gone when I checked recently. It's been at least a year or more since I last looked at BV's stuff. When I get a bit of time I might go Googling and see if there's a story somewhere ... :).

Cheers,
Gary.

Dear Gary, Seti

Dear Gary,

Seti has been preempted at 5 am with a progess of 88.44 % and 03:41:21 to completion with 28:13:47 CPU time.

While EAH was running until now 10 am , progressing from 1.07 % to 5.57 % (within 4 hours), with 92:47:10 To completion and 05:29:06 as CPU time.

Isn't the rate of progression a bit slow? Although EAH has the 70 %?

Cheers
